What the bold text generator does
This bold text generator replaces each letter and digit you type with its bold Unicode equivalent. The output looks like bold type, but it is a different set of characters, so it keeps its bold look when you paste it into apps that have no formatting toolbar.
The page offers several bold variants:
| Style | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bold serif | ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐ฑ๐ญ | Classic, high contrast |
| Bold sans-serif | ๐๐ผ๐น๐ฑ ๐ง๐ฒ๐ ๐ | Matches most app interfaces |
| Bold italic | ๐ฉ๐๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐ | Bold with a slant |
| Bold sans italic | ๐ฝ๐ค๐ก๐ ๐๐๐ญ๐ฉ | Modern, energetic |
| Bold Fraktur | ๐ญ๐๐๐ ๐ฟ๐๐๐ | Gothic, blackletter look |
If you want slanted text without the extra weight, use the italic text generator. For handwriting-style letters, use the cursive font generator.
How to make bold text
- Type or paste your text into the input box.
- Find the bold styles in the results. They update live.
- Tap Copy next to the bold variant you want.
- Open your app and paste into a bio, caption, name, comment, or message.
- Preview the result before saving, especially on a profile.
Tip: bolding one or two words, like a heading in your bio, draws more attention than bolding everything.
Where bold Unicode works
| Platform | Bold Unicode works in | Native bold available? |
|---|---|---|
| Name, Bio, captions, comments | No | |
| TikTok | Name, Bio, captions, comments | No |
| Discord | Display name, nickname, About Me, messages | Yes, **bold** in messages |
| Chats, status, About, profile name | Yes, *bold* in messages |
Where a platform offers native bold, such as Discord markdown or WhatsApp formatting, prefer it inside messages. Native bold is real text formatting that screen readers and search handle correctly. Use Unicode bold where native formatting is not available, like profile names. Platform details are in the guides for Instagram fonts and WhatsApp fonts.
Why bold text can show as boxes
Bold letters come from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, added to Unicode in 2001. Most current phones and computers include fonts that cover them. Problems still appear on:
- Older operating systems and outdated browsers.
- Apps or devices that ship with a small built-in font.
- Some smart TVs, car displays, and point-of-sale screens.
When a device cannot display a character, it shows an empty box, sometimes called tofu. Bold serif and bold sans-serif are among the most widely supported styles, so they are a safe default.
Limits of bold Unicode
- Search: Platform search may not match bold letters to regular letters.
- Character counts: Each bold letter is stored as two UTF-16 code units, and some apps count it as two characters toward the limit.
- Copying back: If someone copies your bold text into a document, it stays as math symbols rather than normal bold letters.
Accessibility note
A screen reader does not hear bold Unicode as bold. It may read each letter by name, such as mathematical bold small o, or skip the characters. For a blind visitor, a fully bold bio can turn into noise. Use bold Unicode sparingly, keep names, links, and key details in plain text, and use native formatting where the platform provides it.
