How TikTok fonts work
TikTok has no font picker for your profile, captions, or comments. To get a different look, you paste Unicode characters that resemble bold, cursive, bubble, or other font styles. This page generates all of them at once from the text you type.
Everything happens in your browser. Your text is not sent to TikTok or to our servers until you paste it yourself.
Where you can use TikTok fonts
| TikTok field | Fancy text works? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Username (@handle) | No | Letters, numbers, underscores, and periods only |
| Name | Yes | Changes are rate-limited |
| Bio | Yes | Short limit; styled letters may count double |
| Video captions | Yes | Keep hashtags plain |
| Comments | Yes | Displays depending on the viewerโs device |
| On-video text | Partly | TikTokโs text fonts may not cover every character |
| Direct messages | Yes | Same display rules as comments |
How to change your TikTok font
- Type your name, bio, or caption in the input box at the top.
- Tap Copy on the style you like.
- Open TikTok and tap Profile, then Edit profile.
- Tap Name or Bio, clear the field, and paste.
- Save, then view your profile to confirm the characters display.
For captions, write the caption, paste styled text where you want it, and add plain hashtags at the end.
Styles that suit TikTok
| Goal | Suggested style |
|---|---|
| Bold, readable name | Bold sans-serif |
| Elegant creator name | Bold script |
| Playful bio | Bubble letters |
| Glitch or horror content | Zalgo, short words only |
Each style has its own page: the bold text generator, the cursive font generator, bubble text, and the zalgo text generator.
Why TikTok fonts sometimes show as boxes
Styled Unicode depends on the viewerโs device fonts. A character that looks fine on your phone can appear as an empty rectangle (tofu) on an older phone or computer. On-video text adds another layer, because TikTok renders it with its own fonts, which may not include every symbol.
To reduce problems:
- Use widely supported styles, like bold, italic, and script, for your Name.
- Avoid rare decorative symbols in places that matter.
- Check your profile on another device or ask a friend.
Tips for TikTok profiles and captions
- Style your Name or the first line of your bio, not every line.
- Keep hashtags, links, and handles plain so they work and stay searchable.
- If your bio gets cut off, remember that some styled letters count as two characters.
- Zalgo text can overlap other comments and may be removed, so use it sparingly.
Accessibility note
Screen readers may read styled Unicode letters as technical names, such as mathematical bold capital T, or skip them. Search may also miss styled words. Keep important information, including what your account is about and any links, in plain text, and treat styled fonts as decoration.
