What the small caps generator does
The small caps generator turns each letter into a small capital: a capital letter shape at lowercase height. ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ look quiet and tidy, which makes them popular for bios, aesthetic usernames, and section labels.
The page also includes related small-text styles:
| Style | Example | Source in Unicode |
|---|---|---|
| Small caps | ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ | Phonetic and Latin extension letters |
| Superscript | ˢᵘᵖᵉʳˢᶜʳⁱᵖᵗ | Modifier letters |
| Subscript (partial) | ₛₘₐₗₗ | Subscript letters, incomplete alphabet |
For other soft, decorative looks, see aesthetic fonts. For bold uppercase emphasis, use the bold text generator.
How to use small caps
- Type your text in the input box. Upper or lower case both work.
- Find the small caps style in the results.
- Tap Copy.
- Paste into a name, bio, caption, comment, or message.
- Preview it. If one letter looks off, the alphabet may lack that small capital.
Small caps work best for short labels, like a bio heading or a name. Because small capitals stay at lowercase height, they sit neatly next to plain text and emoji without making a line look taller, which is why many people pair a small caps label with plain-text details in a bio.

Known gaps in the small caps alphabet
Unicode was not designed with a complete small caps alphabet. The characters come from phonetic notation, where each letter has a specific sound meaning. That leads to a few gaps:
- q and x: no widely supported small capital, so the generator keeps a close substitute or the original letter.
- Letters like ꜱ and ꜰ: added in later Unicode versions and missing on some older devices.
- Superscript q: does not exist in Unicode, so superscript text has a gap there.
These gaps are the main reason small caps text can look uneven compared to the bold or italic styles.
Why small caps can show as boxes
When the reader’s device lacks a font containing a character, it shows an empty box, also called tofu. The core small capitals (ᴀ ʙ ᴄ ᴅ ᴇ ɢ ʜ ɪ ᴊ ᴋ ʟ ᴍ ɴ ᴏ ᴘ ʀ ᴛ ᴜ ᴠ ᴡ ʏ ᴢ) are broadly supported. Later additions such as ꜱ and ꜰ are more likely to fail on older systems. Check your text on a second device before using it in a profile.
Accessibility note
Small caps letters come from phonetic alphabets, so screen readers may announce them with long names, like latin letter small capital r, or skip them. Search may not match them to the plain spelling either. Keep your name, links, and important information in plain text, and use small caps for a short accent rather than whole sentences.
