What a cursive font generator does
This cursive font generator converts each letter you type into a matching Unicode script character. The result looks like handwriting, but it is ordinary text, so you can paste it into apps that do not offer a font menu: Instagram bios, TikTok captions, Discord nicknames, WhatsApp statuses, and more.
The generator outputs two main cursive styles:
| Style | Example | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Script | 𝒞𝓊𝓇𝓈𝒾𝓋ℯ | Elegant names, short titles |
| Bold script | 𝓒𝓾𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮 | Readability at small sizes |
Other handwriting-like options on the page, such as decorated frames, appear in the aesthetic fonts section.
How to use the cursive generator
- Type your text in the input box at the top of the page.
- Find the cursive styles in the results list. They update as you type.
- Tap Copy next to the style you like.
- Open your app and paste into a name, bio, caption, comment, or message.
- Check the result on your profile or in a message preview before saving.
Tip: script capitals are wide and ornate. A name with one capital and lowercase letters after it usually reads better than all capitals.
Where cursive text works
Cursive Unicode works anywhere the platform accepts general text. It does not work in fields limited to plain letters and numbers.
| Platform | Works in | Does not work in |
|---|---|---|
| Name, Bio, captions, comments, Stories text | Username | |
| TikTok | Name, Bio, captions, comments | Username |
| Discord | Display name, server nickname, About Me, messages | Username |
| Chats, status, About, profile name | — |
For platform-specific steps, see Instagram fonts and fonts for Discord.
How cursive Unicode works
Unicode includes a set called Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols. Mathematicians use script letters as distinct symbols, so Unicode encodes them as separate characters. A few script letters already existed in the older Letterlike Symbols block (for example ℬ and ℯ), so the generator uses those to fill the gaps. That is why one or two letters can look a little different from the others in some fonts.
Because these are characters, not a font file, the look depends on the fonts installed on the viewer’s device. The same cursive text can appear slightly thinner on an iPhone than on a Windows PC.
Why cursive letters sometimes show as boxes
An empty box, often called tofu, means the viewer’s device has no font for that character. Common causes:
- An older operating system that predates good support for math letters.
- An app that renders text with its own limited font.
- Smart TVs, game consoles, and some embedded browsers.
If you need a safe choice, bold script tends to be clearer than thin script, and the styles from the bold text generator or italic text generator are supported on more devices.
Accessibility note
Screen readers do not read script characters as normal letters. Depending on the reader and its settings, a cursive word may be announced letter by letter with technical names like mathematical script small a, or skipped. Search features may also fail to match cursive letters to plain words. Use cursive for decoration, such as a single word in your bio, and keep your name, links, prices, and instructions in plain text.
